“THERE’S NO JUSTICE, said Mort. JUST US.”

Sir Terry Pratchett died today and I’m not entirely sure what to do right now. My condolences to the family for their loss. It’s hard to fathom the loss I feel right at this moment, like a part of what made this world great and beautiful has been taken from me. From us. My childhood, adolescence and adult life was shaped by his books, his wit and humour made me laugh and cry, think and observe. If anything, his books made me remain in love with literature, and even aspire to become a writer someday.

I was lucky enough to meet the man in 2008, and naturally lost the ability to speak the following second, but it left a lasting impression. A good humoured man, kind, intelligent, calm and fiercely clever. A literary genius of our time has left us and though I knew this was coming, I never really thought it would happen. I just hope the ripples of his work never cease.

Terry… Safe journey through the desert. Give Binky a carrot, have Albert make you a fry-up and shake Death’s hand. I’m sure you have lots to talk about. RIP.

With such an preponderance of work, it is hard pick a favourite moment from one of his books, let alone from his entire bibliography. What is your favourite moment or memory? Let me know.
